Graffiti
The word is derived from the Greek term "graphein," meaning, "To write." Today, the term graffiti is considered only if it appears on public and private property without permission. The term originated in the late 1960's even though unsolicited markings have been around for ever. And every year, millions of dollars are spent cleaning up graffiti from neighborhoods across the country.
Graffiti The defacing public or private property is not a form of accepted art. Graffiti lowers neighborhood appeal; lowers property values; drives away prospective home-buyers; attracts prostitution, and can lead to other criminal activity such as drug dealing and shop-lifting in the area.
There are four types of graffiti - Tagging, gang, hate and generic. Although most of the graffiti we see in our county is done with paint, the most difficult graffiti to deal with are acid etchings because surface restoration can be expensive.
